Mind is the leading mental health charity for England and Wales who campaign vigorously to create a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all – a society where people with experience of mental distress are treated fairly, positively and with respect.
A fundamental part of Mind’s work is provided through a network of over 180 local Mind associations (LMAs). Last year, LMAs worked with over 220,000 people running around 1,600 services across England and Wales. Services include supported housing, crisis helplines, drop-in centres, employment and training schemes, counselling and befriending.
Mind shops are a vital presence in more than 120 communities around England and Wales, selling donated goods like clothing, books and home wares. The shops almost exclusively sell goods donated by the public, so rely heavily on the generosity of their local communities to make them profitable.
The money raised by Mind shops is an invaluable source of funding for their work. As part of Mind’s commitment to the work done by the local Mind associations, over 20 per cent of the money raised by our shops goes directly to support their work in England and Wales. The rest of the shops’ proceeds fund our critical work such as fighting the stigma experienced by people with experience of mental distress.
A fixture on our high streets since 1961, Mind shops are supported by a dedicated band of volunteers. Over 1,300 volunteers weekly give up some of their spare time to help with all the jobs that need to done such as sorting, steaming and pricing clothing and making sales.
A Mind Furniture charity shop was seeking guidance with advertising their stock online, so we decided to help out by demonstrating how user friendly ads’ere is. Shop Manager Matthew was extremely pleased to be given a hand with photographing various items of furniture and creating numerous free ads on ads’ere. All items listed can be found within their ads’ere community Mind Furniture Shop Hinckley
If you live locally to the Mind Furniture Shop in Hinckley and you have unwanted items of furniture or home decor, please give Matthew or a member of his team a call and they will willingly collect from your front door.
